Dragged to the Wedding(51)
“You were amazing,” Daniel said as he leaned over to him, throwing his arms around James’s neck. “You did what was right and safeguarded the wedding so your sister could have the big day she deserves.” James was a good man, there was no doubt of that. Daniel kissed James hard, moaning as James’s strong hands wrapped around his back.
James held him tighter, kissing harder, pressing him back against the seat. “Hell, I want you,” James growled. “I have for days.” Daniel found himself caught in James’s intense gaze. “Do you have any fucking idea? I’ve gone to bed every night with a permanent hard-on, smelling your aromatic Viagra. I haven’t gotten more than a few hours’ sleep, and my imagination has been running on overdrive with you right next to me and off-limits.”
James didn’t give Daniel a chance to respond before he kissed him again, reaching over to put the seat back. “You need to stop me now, or...” James’s eyes were as dark as night and his breathing shallow. “Say you want this too.”
“James,” Daniel gasped as James slid his hand up under his clothes. Daniel had never been so happy in his life to be wearing multiple layers to keep his manhood hidden instead of tucking, because damn, his heart pounded as excitement raced through him like wildfire. “I want you, but...” He gasped for breath before James tugged at his lips. Daniel held him tighter, sucking on James’s tongue, his control slipping. “We’re in the church parking lot.” He didn’t want to think about it.
James paused a second, lifting his heated gaze. “Damn...” He sat back in his seat, breathing hard. “This is too open, and I don’t intend to share you with anyone.” He swiped his hand down his face. “I must be crazy.”
“What?” Daniel whispered.
James took a deep breath, held it, and released it slowly. “I’m not going to do this here.”
“Because it’s a church?” Daniel was seconds from jumping James. Daniel had been going out of his mind for days and was tired of this waiting. He wanted to get his hands on James and feel what all of those incredible muscles and hot skin next to him were like. He wanted to know what it was like to have James all to himself in the most intimate way.
“No...” James closed his eyes. “I can’t believe I’m doing this...but no. Not here. I don’t want to do this here.” He seemed to steady himself once more. “When I get you all to myself...alone and open to me, I want it to be more meaningful than fucking hurriedly in the damned car. I want it to be in a bed with you naked, laid out for me, wanting, begging, looking at me like I’m the center of the universe. I want to take my time and show you everything you deserve.” He swallowed hard, and Daniel put his seat back up.
Daniel did his best to catch his own breath and tamp down the disappointment that welled inside. “I...” He sighed.
James stopped. “You deserve more than this. You deserve the biggest, most comfortable bed...hours of exploration...days...maybe even weeks. You should be treated as though you’re worth every second we spend together and not just a quickie somewhere.” James drew closer. “Because when I have you, I want all of you, every single inch, and every bit of your attention. I’m a selfish man, and I only want the best.” James held his hand, the energy between them filling the car. “We’d better get to the rehearsal dinner.”
“Or your mother will start wondering if we’re flouting her damned commandments again.” Daniel had to do something to cut the tension between them otherwise he was going to explode.
Thankfully James snickered. “You know, if that’s what she’s thinking, then it will be one of the few things that Mom might have gotten right with this wedding.”
Daniel rolled down the window, thankful for the crisp mountain air to help clear his head. It seemed that the last of his defenses had been smashed to the ground. Daniel breathed slowly, grateful that one of them had come to their senses. Or was he? Daniel wanted James, and he could repeat otherwise in his head until the cows came home, but that sure as hell didn’t mean that his heart was listening. And holy hell, James’s reasons for waiting... Daniel had been waiting to hear those words forever. He knew he was good in bed, and most guys were only interested in that...however they could get it. This seemed different, and...dare he think...maybe exactly what he’d been looking for. He stuck his head out the window and looked up at the stars, wondering if he actually dared to let himself hope that there was even the remotest possibility that the fantasy, the fairy tale, could come true for him.
Chapter Fifteen
“Where have you been?” Holly whispered forcefully as he and Daniel entered the restaurant.
“Sorry. I had to make a phone call.” James held her gaze until she nodded slowly. “Everything should be okay for tomorrow.”
“Good. Now take your seats so the dinner can start.” She led the way through the crowded restaurant to the private room in back.
“Bossy, isn’t she?” Daniel asked.
“Hangry,” James retorted. “This is what you get when she hasn’t eaten.” He pulled out Daniel’s chair and then took his own.
“Thank you all for coming and being part of our wedding,” Howard said after standing at his place at the head table. “Please enjoy the dinner and have a wonderful evening.” Everyone clapped as servers fanned out, taking orders and bringing drinks.
