Hostile(36)

Author:Nicole Dykes

The crowd has all but cleared out. Still, I know we need to be careful, and he must, too, because he keeps a fair distance. “Uh-oh. You’re into the whole baseball thing now, huh?”

“I have no idea what you’ve done to me.” I look back toward the nearly empty parking lot. “And my ride left, so I thought maybe you could take me home.”

He nods, his gaze now filled with heat, which sends a needy shiver down my spine. “Okay. Let’s go.”

The impulse to grab his hand is strong as we walk to his car, but I don’t. I fight it.

I can’t help wondering if he has the same urge.

THIRTY-TWO

He came to my game. He actually fucking showed up, and I can’t wipe the stupid grin off my face. Not even after we walk into his apartment, and he closes the door behind us. “You were at my game,” I stupidly state the obvious.

He turns toward me, a gleam in his eyes. “I was.”

“You said you wouldn’t go.”

He shrugs, pushing his fingers through his hair. “It seemed like it was important to you.”

A lump forms in my throat at his words. He picked up on that. I thought I’d played it cool, but I guess not. I move to him, gripping the top of his jeans and pulling him closer to me. “It was. I loved seeing you out there.”

He’s grinning smugly now, but I can also tell he’s not used to these kind of emotions. Neither am I. “You weren’t so bad out on the field.” One hand moves up his back and to his neck.

“Not so bad, huh? I hit a home run.”

“Good job?” He says it like a question, which makes me laugh before I bring my lips to his, crashing against them with need and heat he meets head-on. It’s urgent and feral as we rip each other’s clothes off. I should probably worry about being sweaty from the game, but it doesn’t seem to bother him as his fingers slide through my hair and his nails dig into my scalp.

“Thank you for being there,” I say through rough kisses, and he only grunts as we move back toward his bed, both of us totally, gloriously naked now. Our naked dicks sliding against each other is enough to make me lose my mind. Our precum leaking adds lubrication for us to grind against each other toward bliss, but it’s not enough.

It’s never enough with him. I want everything all at once. I want him inside me. I want to be inside him. I want to taste him, and I want his mouth on me. The feeling of his hard cock rubbing against mine, though, makes my toes curl and my balls ache with the need to release. With his hard body under mine, he grabs my ass and pulls me into him.

“Fuck, you’re hot.”

He grins against my lips before moving his mouth to my neck and sucking. “I’m close.”

I nod, arching my back into him, my balls drawing up tight. “So damn close. Your body is insane.”

His fingers dig into my ass. “You’re one to talk. This ass. This fucking perfect, solid ass.” He nips along my jaw and then pulls on my earlobe with his teeth. “It’s all I could think about at that game.”

“Fuck, Rhett.” I thrust my hips against his, and when I let go, my cum jolting from my dick and covering his lower stomach, I feel his cock jerk and look down in time to see his release joining mine.

“Fuck.”

I nod in agreement as I roll onto my back next to him, both of us panting and in a sticky, sweaty mess. After a few minutes, we’re both still laying on our backs, and he says, “So, my friends know.”

My lips move into a smile. “Yeah. I know. It’s okay.”

“They won’t say anything, Grayson. I promise.”

“I’m not worried.” I mean it. I’m really not. I’ve never trusted anyone more in my life.

He seems satisfied with that as I climb out of bed, and he follows, smacking my ass with his palm. “Let’s get cleaned up.”

“Hell yeah.” I follow him greedily into the small shower in his bathroom, loving the opportunity to spend more naked time with Rhett. We barely fit, but it doesn’t matter. We’re all slow kisses and caresses, and it’s heaven.

Every single minute of it.

He came to my game.

After we climb out of the shower and dry off, we fall back into bed. We’re both still naked as he pulls me to him, and I kiss his soft lips. “You came to my game,” I say dreamily, and his smile warms places in me I didn’t even know existed.

I didn’t know it was my job to make him smile until I met him. Now I know. This is my destiny.

Making my grumpy guy smile.

“You’re obsessed.” I nod and nip his bottom lip, not disagreeing.

I grip the sides of his face, lost in the moment. “Go to prom with me.”

He startles, but he doesn’t pull away from me. “No.”

The usual answer. “Please?”

He doesn’t mock me for begging, and he doesn’t pull away. I’m calling that a win. “Look, a baseball game is one thing, but . . . prom?”

I feel stupid for asking. I don’t want to change Rhett. I have zero desire to do that. “Okay. Yeah, you’re right.”

He smiles and kisses me softly, rolling us so he’s laying his head on my chest. I make lazy slow circles with my fingers on his bare back, feeling his warm breath against the skin on my chest. He asks, “Are you going?”

I hear the vulnerability in his question, but I’m not sure anyone else would hear it if they were listening. He tried to keep it casual. “I think I’m going with the usual group, but not with a date.”

He lifts his head enough to meet my eyes, and I see all the unasked questions there. Instead, he asks, “When you asked me, did you mean a date?”

My chest aches at the question because I want to date Rhett. I really want to date him. But I know it’s not possible.

He buries his head in my chest, not making me answer. “Is it okay if I go?” My voice sounds weak, but damn it, I’m weak for him.

I don’t care.

I feel him smiling now. “You don’t need my permission.” His eyes meet mine again. “And yeah, it’s okay. Have normal high-school fun. One last time, right?”

I nod, my chest burning with the ache again, thinking about the end of high school. I just found him, and it won’t be long before I have to give him up. “I guess.” I poke his side playfully, trying to lighten the mood. “You know you could conform just a tiny little bit. Go to prom. Let me get you all happy and shit. Dancing to awful songs with people you can’t stand. Go to a lame party afterward where we’re all drunk and stupid.”

“You want to take advantage of me? You really don’t need prom for that,” he teases.

“Hell no. I want you to take advantage of me.” I kiss his nose. “Do all the dirty things to me.”

He grins and climbs onto my body, grabbing my arms and pinning them to the sides of my head. “Why wait?”

I laugh, and he does too. “Agreed.”

I lean up as he leans down, meeting in the middle for a hot kiss, as we both grow hard again, needing each other in ways we can’t say.

It’s enough for now. I just need to focus on the right now when I’m in Rhett’s bed, wrapped up in him.
