Mistakes Were Made(55)

Author:Meryl Wilsner

Erin’s fist clenched and pulled at Cassie’s hair, and her hips stopped pulsing and just stayed ground down, hard against Cassie’s face. Her thighs trembled and shook and Cassie held tight to them, didn’t let Erin pull away until she was breathless and sensitive, worn out by Cassie’s mouth. Only then did Cassie grin and let go so Erin could climb off and collapse next to her.

“Fuck,” Erin murmured.

Cassie felt pretty damn proud of herself.

“I’m gonna wipe that grin off your face in a minute,” Erin said, not even opening her eyes to look at Cassie.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Cassie said, grinning wider.

Erin, well—she lived up to her promise. As soon as her breathing slowed, she was back on top of Cassie, lips on hers and a hand snaking down Cassie’s pajama bottoms. She slid a finger into her with no resistance, added another before Cassie had time to think. Cassie tried to swallow back a gasp.

“That’s what I thought,” Erin said, voice low and smirk obvious even with Cassie’s eyes closed.

“Kiss me.” Cassie would’ve liked to think she demanded it, but she was pretty sure she begged. Erin kissed her anyway.

Cassie shuddered. She’d known Erin sitting on her face made her wet—like, obviously—but she hadn’t expected this. She was soaked, Erin pumping her fingers only a few times before adding a third.

“Is this what you wanted?” Erin asked. “Is this why you were sad you hadn’t touched me all day?”

“Yes,” Cassie gasped. She bit the back of her hand to keep from crying out.

“You were thinking of fucking me all day?”

“Fuck, Erin, yes.”

Cassie’s body felt heavy, like it was sinking except for where it was anchored by Erin’s fingers inside of her.

Erin looked fascinated watching her. Cassie had never felt like this during sex, like the other person couldn’t bear to look away. It made her feel powerful even while she felt helpless, completely at the mercy of Erin’s fingers. She smiled, like an experiment, and Erin beamed down at her, almost but not quite losing her rhythm.

Cassie realized then that they were definitely breaking the rules, even Erin’s fake oral-sex-doesn’t-count rule. She hadn’t thought about it before Erin got her hands on her. Cassie was wound up like a goddamn teenage boy—eager and easy—and that Erin wanted to fuck her enough to ignore how her daughter was down the hall shredded the last vestige of Cassie’s self-control. She bit her lip, mostly held in her whine, and came, keeping her eyes open to let Erin watch.

Erin kissed Cassie before she’d finished, body still shaking. Cassie shivered and gasped when Erin pulled her fingers out suddenly. She kissed her again. Erin slid to the side as Cassie tried to catch her breath, but left one leg thrown over Cassie’s and her arm heavy over Cassie’s stomach. This bed could’ve swallowed them whole and Cassie would’ve been fine with it.

“I’ll go in a minute, I swear,” she said. “I’m just not sure I can move my legs right now.”

Erin huffed a laugh and rubbed her face against Cassie’s shoulder. “Don’t be an idiot. Just stay.”

That sobered Cassie pretty quickly.

“Um. But Parker…?”

“Sleeps until noon,” Erin said, and reached to click off the light.

Cassie was glad for the sudden darkness and the way it disguised her smile. Erin read her silence wrong, though.

“If you want to go, by all means sneak down the hallway.” Her voice had no give to it. “Makes more sense to stay if you ask me.”

“I guess if you’re gonna twist my arm,” Cassie said. She was already halfway to sleep, sated and warm.

“As long as you’re not a sleep cuddler,” Erin said as though she weren’t still pressed up against Cassie.

Cassie fell asleep instead of teasing her about it.

Twelve

ERIN

Something was poking into Erin’s ribs, hard and solid and unmoving. She brought her hand up to push it away, but froze upon finding bare skin. She opened her eyes.

Right. Cassie.

Cassie, in her bed. The things Erin had whispered to her last night, three fingers deep. The look on Cassie’s face as Erin crawled over her toward the headboard.

Cassie was turned away, toward the pale light drifting through the window, but Erin hid her smile in the pillow anyway. She caressed Cassie’s elbow instead of moving it so her bones stopped jabbing into Erin’s. The touch roused Cassie. She grabbed Erin’s hand and tugged it over and around her.
