McNeal shrugged.
“I was skeptical if he even existed. Maybe, I thought, he was a figment of your imagination.”
“I hadn’t thought of that before. Maybe he was.”
“It’s something we might want to explore at a future date, when you might feel more comfortable talking about it.”
“Time’s a great healer.”
“Psychotic reactions vary according to an individual. It could last a day, maybe a week or two. But it’s often a result of a stressful event in a person’s life. And you may very well have slid into that extremely dangerous state.”
McNeal nodded.
“I think you’ve been on a little journey recently. I’m glad you’re back. I hope this episode is over. Do you think it’s over? Have the voices in your head been quieted?”
McNeal closed his eyes. He didn’t have an answer.
