The Words(66)

Author:Ashley Jade & A. Jade

“I fucking hate you.”

That makes two of us.

“I take it things are going well?” Storm interjects before he and Memphis walk into the bedroom.

“Lennon was just leaving.”

“And Phoenix was just lying.”

My lungs lock up as I wait for her to drop the hammer. Memphis won’t believe her because he doesn’t even know her…but Storm might.

Lennon doesn’t knock down the pins she set up, though. She goes a different route.

“He wants to tell Chandler I’m his stalker so he’ll fire me.”

Storm scrubs a hand down his face. “Chandler isn’t going to fire you.”

The hell he won’t. “He will once I talk to him.”

Storm glares at me. “No. Because I’m the one who convinced him to hire Lennon in the first place, so he knows she’s not a stalker, jackass. Plus, the record label is involved now, so they’re not gonna let her go without just cause.”

The asshole is no longer my best friend.

“Honestly, I don’t care anymore.” Lennon’s gaze zeros in on me. “Eat shit and die, Walker.”

Memphis’s eyebrows shoot up. Then he smiles and sticks out his hand. “Hey, I’m Memphis. Guitarist.”

The fucker is blatantly checking her out.

“Uncuff me,” I bark before her hand makes contact with his. “Now.”

If looks could kill, I’d be cremated. “Kiss my ass.”

With those parting words, she walks out.

And I’m reminded of what a nice ass it is.

Big, round, and shapely. It’s all I can do not to bite my knuckle and chase after her.

And I’m not the only one because Storm and Memphis are practically breaking their necks to get a better look.

“Goddamn,” Memphis says under his breath. “You’re an idiot.”

After he’s looked his fill, Storm’s eyes connect with mine. “You’re so fucked.”

I know.

CHAPTER 27

LENNON

“It’s not going well,” I tell Mrs. Palma as I pace up and down the hallway of the hotel, because there’s no way in hell I’m going back in there. “I’ve already told him to die once.”

“What happened?”

Closing my eyes, I inhale a breath as a flicker of pain squeezes my chest.

“The asshole won’t even acknowledge that he stole—”

I stop talking when I hear the sound of a hotel door opening.

“I have to go,” I tell her when I see Storm and Memphis come out of Phoenix’s suite.

I find myself studying them as they approach.

While Phoenix is definitely the pretty boy of the group with his strong, chiseled jawline, piercing eyes, and gorgeous face…Storm is the complete opposite.

He’s attractive, but in a scary, intense way.

Contrary to Phoenix, who’s long and lean, Storm is built like a brick shithouse.

I’d literally piss my pants if I was walking down a dark alley and saw him.

Memphis is a combination of the two of them. Like his fellow band members, he’s tall. While not jacked like Storm is, he’s also not as lean as Phoenix. His face, albeit striking, has sharp features.

Similar to Storm, he has dark hair, dark eyes, and a few tattoos.

“Don’t leave,” Storm says.

He has no idea how much I want to.

And I have him to thank for it because me being here is all his doing.

Which doesn’t add up.

“Why do you want me here so badly?”

Storm and Memphis exchange a glance before Memphis takes a step back.

“I’m gonna shower and grab a bite to eat before sound check,” he drawls, and I detect a hint of a Southern accent. “It was nice meeting you, Lennon. Hopefully, I’ll see you later.”

As far as first impressions go, mine was spectacular. However, I can’t focus on that because Storm takes hold of my elbow and steers me toward his hotel room. “Let’s talk in here.”

While smaller than Phoenix’s, this one doesn’t look like a bomb hit it.

He gestures for me to take a seat on the couch as he walks over to the mini-fridge.

I’m grateful when he offers me a bottle of water because the only thing to drink in Phoenix’s suite is alcohol.

“Thanks.”

He crosses his arms over his chest. “I want you here because you’re the only person who can help him.”

That nearly makes me spit up my water. “Help him? He’s lucky I’m not slitting his damn throat after what he did to me.”
