The Words(72)

Author:Ashley Jade & A. Jade

Chances are he’ll be too drunk to remember I agreed to such an offer anyway. But if he does?

I never said it had to be on the lips.

“But only if you shut up and let me take you back to the room.”

“Deal,” he utters as the door across from us opens…

And Chandler pops his head out.

Shit.

Anger tightens his features as he takes in a drunk and wet Phoenix. “What the hell is going on?”

Phoenix starts to speak, but Storm clamps a hand over his mouth this time.

“Nothing. Phoenix just went for a swim.” When Chandler’s brows furrow, I quickly add, “Don’t worry. No one saw him.”

Those beady eyes narrow. “They better not have. Or else.”

He slams the door and we finally make our way to the suite.

“He’s all yours,” Storm says as we enter the small foyer separating our rooms. “I have company I need to get back to.”

I’ll say. His girl’s been tied up for a while now.

“I really appreciate all your help.”

There’s no way I would have been able to convince those cops to let Phoenix go without him.

Or drag his plastered ass back to the hotel all by myself.

Storm wags a finger at his friend. “Don’t give her any more shit.”

“Don’t tell me what to do,” Phoenix spits.

Luckily Storm lets that roll off his back and leaves.

I lug Phoenix inside his suite.

I’m thankful I had the foresight to set up those restraints on his bed ahead of time.

Once we reach the bedroom, I shove him onto the mattress.

I briefly debate helping him change into dry clothes, but after tonight’s antics, he can sleep in his drenched ones.

Unfortunately, mine end up wet too because Phoenix fights me tooth and nail when I try to restrain him.

“I believe you owe me something,” he rasps as he seizes my hips and rolls us over so he’s on top.

I ignore the large bulge digging into my pelvis.

“I don’t owe you shit,” I tell him, but then I realize it’s the only bargaining chip I have at my disposal.

“If you let me put these on, I’ll do it.”

A muscle in his sharp jaw bunches as he moves off me. It’s clear he doesn’t like it, but tough shit.

If he didn’t act like a feral animal, he wouldn’t need to be locked up like one.

I make quick work of fastening the cuffs around his wrists, but he protests when I reach for the ankle ones. “Wrists only, Groupie.”

“Fine.” I check to make sure the cuffs are secure. “But I better find you just like this when I wake up.”

I start to move off the bed, but he jerks upward. “Aren’t you forgetting something?”

“Nope.”

I already got what I needed. He can go fuck himself.

“I won’t be so willing to compromise next time,” he snaps to my retreating back.

Willing to compromise my ass. However, I can’t afford to have another night like this if I’m going to make it to the end of this tour and get paid.

I want to slap the self-satisfied look off his face as I return to the bed.

“This doesn’t change anything between us.”

Leaning down, I aim for his cheek…but he turns his head at the last second, capturing my lips.

A bolt of heat punches through me, and my heart—the traitorous moron—flutters wildly. A low groan leaves him as his tongue slides inside…but I finally come to my senses and break the spell.

Backing away, I wipe my mouth, hoping to remove whatever traces of him are left, even though I feel him everywhere.

I hate it. Hate him.

“Go to sleep, asshole.”

CHAPTER 31

PHOENIX

“Lennon,” I bark for the hundredth time since I’ve been awake.

I know she’s up because I heard the door to her room open and shut not too long ago.

Brat.

This is her sick way of trying to get me back for that kiss last night.

A kiss she’s pissed about because she not only enjoyed it. She felt it.

Lennon can hate me all she wants—hell, she can scream it from the top of the highest mountain until her lungs give out—but she can’t deny our chemistry.

It’s fucking napalm.

I could screw every woman in the world, but no one will ever come close to making me feel even a small fraction of what she does.

She’s like poison and magic rolled into one. I want to push her far away and pull her closer at the same time.

Which is all the more reason I’ll be happy when she’s gone.
