A Long Time Coming (Cane Brothers, #3)(134)

Author:Meghan Quinn

Lia: How can you act like nothing just happened?

Breaker: I’m not acting like nothing happened. Trust me, I can still feel your mouth on my cock.

Lia: Then . . . then why are you acting so casual about all of this? I have no idea what’s happening between us, and you’re not helping.

Breaker: This feels normal to me, Lia. Like I should have been intimate with you for the last ten years, but I know it’s taking you time to get there. I want you to see just how normal it is.

Lia: It doesn’t feel normal. It feels weird.

Breaker: Did it feel weird when you were dragging your teeth along my dick?

Lia: Well, no. But that was in the moment.

Breaker: Exactly. Keep living in the moment and stop overthinking everything. Good night, Lia.

And then, then he knocks on the wall four times, and reluctantly, I knock on it three.

I don’t even bother getting my yarn out of my bag as I take a seat on Kelsey’s couch. I called an emergency meeting after last night, and the girls were more than happy to accommodate. The men, not so much.

Lottie sets down a plate of mini quiches that Reign made, as well as a plate of his delicious croissants.

“Seemed like a croissant moment,” she says.

Kelsey brings over a bowl of jelly, plates, and utensils while Myla files in with drinks.

“What’s going on?” Kelsey asks.

Getting straight to the point, I say, “You guys were right. He has a plan, and he’s executing it.”

Lottie leans over and grabs a mini quiche. Before popping it in her mouth, she says, “The Cane men always have a plan . . . always.”

“What happened?” Myla asks.

I go into detail about the night and how we shared a nice dinner, and he was all handsy, but conversation was normal. And then when it came to dessert . . .

“Wait, he had a dildo with a remote and then put you in the tub?” Lottie asks, blinking.

My cheeks are flaming as I nod. “Yes. And let me tell you, never in my life have I ever done anything like that. Not even by myself.”

“I knew he was the kinkier one,” Lottie whispers.

“That’s not even the kinkiest part,” I say.

Myla lifts her drink to her lips and says, “Please tell us.”

“Uh, well, he told me to suck him off while the vibrator was still inside me.”

The girls all sit there, partially stunned.

“And I did,” I add.

Lottie swallows and asks, “How was his dick?”

“Like a freaking log.”

The girls let out a boisterous laugh.

“Seriously, it was so big. I told him that wasn’t fitting inside me, and he told me how his cock was perfect for my . . . cunt.”

“He said that?” Kelsey asks. “Man, I don’t know if I’m going to be able to look at Breaker the same way.”

“I don’t think any of us will,” Myla says.

“Quick question,” Lottie says, holding up her finger. “Did you suck him off?”

Starting to feel a touch more comfortable with these conversations, I nod. “I did and . . . I really liked it.”

“Thatta girl,” Lottie says while patting my leg.

“So what’s the problem?” Myla asks.

“The problem is, everything still feels weird. Like when we’re in the moment, nothing is weird about it. It’s so natural. And sure, he stuns me with what he says and what he wants me to do, but after . . . after is what’s killing me. And when I talked to him about it last night, he told me to stop overthinking everything.”

“He’s right,” Kelsey says. “You need to just live in the moment.”

“I agree,” Myla says as she puts jelly on a croissant. “It sounds like he’s trying to normalize it all, and if you’re resistant, it’s going to make it hard for him to do that.”

“The big question is, do you want something more with him?” Kelsey asks.

I lean back on the couch and give it some thought.

Life without Breaker is a life I don’t think I could handle, nor do I want it.

This new level of our friendship, it’s different, but I also seem to enjoy it. That’s a lie. I know I enjoy it.

Immensely.

“I think I do,” I answer. “But that terrifies me.”

“Understandable,” Lottie says. “But you know Breaker won’t do anything to hurt you, ever. He cherishes you.”

“He really does,” Kelsey adds. “Pretty much worships the ground you walk on.”

“And he’s intending to make something so much more of you two,” Lottie adds.
