The Words(113)

Author:Ashley Jade & A. Jade

Too bad he took that heart and crushed it.

Shaking my head in disgust, I grab my purse.

I’m aware of him rounding on me as I head for the door, so I speed up.

He’s faster than I thought, though, because the second I open it, he slams it shut.

I press my forehead against the panel as his lips touch my ear. “It means you’re mine. And I’m yours.” Rough hands latch on to my waist and he spins me around. “And now that we’re back together, I want you in my bed every night. Got it?”

No. I don’t got it.

My head feels heavy with emotions and memories. “Back together?”

The hands on my waist tighten when I laugh. “We dated—and I use that term very loosely—for two days.” Which is being generous. “That’s not a relationship.”

He grips my chin, looking so earnest it makes my heart skip several beats. “Then let me do a better job this time around.”

Closing my eyes, I swallow past the lump in my throat.

Four years ago, I would have not only said yes without any hesitation, I’m positive I would have died from happiness.

But that Lennon doesn’t exist anymore.

And this Lennon will never forgive him for being the cause of that.

The only relationship I want from Phoenix Walker is the kind that gives me orgasms.

Opening my eyes, I stare into his. “We’re not together. This thing between us is just sex.”

The earnest expression on his face morphs to one of vexation. “Bullshit.”

“It’s not. As far as I’m concerned, we’re just two people getting each other off. Fuck buddies.”

Only, we aren’t buddies anymore.

Both his face and hold go slack. “I don’t want to be fuck buddies.”

He spits the last two words out like they taste rancid.

Sadly, for him, this isn’t about what Phoenix Walker wants anymore. This is about what I want.

“Fine. I mean, you offered me a free pass the other night, but if the offer is no longer on the table, it’s cool.”

I go to brush past him, but he pins both my wrists above my head with one of his hands. “And if it’s still on the table? What then?”

Fire zips through me, and my nipples harden. “Then your cock can have me for the next four weeks…that’s it.”

That’s all it will ever be.

Due to the choice he made back then.

Those thoughts fly to the back burner, though, the second his mouth finds my neck, and he squeezes my breast.

“In that case…” A warm buzz flutters deep in my belly when he drops to his knees and pulls both my leggings and panties down in one fluid motion. “I’m gonna make every moment count.”

Too bad we don’t have any moments to spare right now. “We’re late—”

The first swipe of his tongue is a slow, languid tease along the length of my slit that makes me choke.

Groaning, he spreads me with two of his fingers. “Fuck. That’s good.”

The second is a ravenous lash of hunger that lights every nerve ending of mine on fire. “Holy shit.”

He simply laughs between long licks that drive me out of my freaking mind.

“Don’t stop,” I whisper. “Don’t you dare stop.”

Tugging my hips forward, he buries his face between my thighs. Feasting.

My hands brace the door behind me for balance and I moan his name.

A little too loud.

Anxiety tightens my chest with my next thought.

“We have to keep this under wraps.”

I can’t lose my job.

His hungry gaze flicks up to meet mine. “No more fucking in public. Got it.”

My stomach twists with remorse. “Poor George.”

Safe to say he’s no longer talking to me. Not that I can blame him.

A sharp bite on my inner thigh makes me hiss.

This time, when Phoenix looks up at me, his stare is downright lethal. “Do not ever say his name, or any other guy’s name, while I’m playing with your cunt.”

“Or what?” I challenge.

“You don’t get to do this.”

He sweeps a long path up my pussy that ends with a deep pull of my clit.

I quiver, turning to putty against him. “Oh—”

A loud bang on the door makes me jolt.

“Have you seen Phoenix?” Chandler bellows. “He’s not answering his phone or his door.”

Shit. Shit. Shit.

I motion for Phoenix to stop, but he ignores me. Asshole.

“He’s…” Oh god. He’s probing my hole with his tongue, stretching me. “Eating.” I let out a shaky breath. “Downstairs.”
