Stars in Your Eyes(48)
“I knew you didn’t want to come and asked you to anyway.” Guilt threads through me. I’d promised him I would never force him to do anything he didn’t want to do, but I pressured him into coming to this dinner. Maybe I’m not as good at respecting boundaries as I’d like to believe. Maybe that’s something I can work on.
“I could’ve said no, if I really didn’t want to be here.” He hesitates as he opens the car door. “I’m dreading going home alone. I can get wrapped up in my head sometimes, and—I don’t know. Would you want to come over?”
I raise a brow. It sounds like an invitation for more. Maybe that’s how Logan means it, too, as he watches me, waiting to see what I’ll say.
I wouldn’t mind more right now. “Yeah,” I say. “Sure. Let’s go.”
Inside Hollywood Blog
Matthew Cole and Logan Gray have been seen around town as the new Hollywood “it” couple. Interest in the pair has grown as their private romance gives audiences glimmers of the chemistry the two will share onscreen. The recent photos of public displays of affection have continued to build excitement for their film, though some continue to express their concern for Cole, given Gray’s track record for cheating on partners. We’ll have to see how the ending to this particular story plays out, and if Cole and Gray will have their own happily ever after.

OH MY GOD??? Did you see those photos?? They actually WENT TO THE CLUB!!!! Here’s a celebratory post!
Chapter 3: The Blood Sucker
Matthew Cole was shocked. How could he have not realized the truth sooner? It was obvious, now that he thought of it, that Logan Gray was a vampire. Hadn’t Gray’s teeth always glimmered and seemed extra pointy? And Gray always had a particular affinity for Mattie’s neck, too.
They stood at the back of the club, Phillip holding the stake that he meant to use to kill Gray. “Don’t think I won’t be afraid to use this,” Phil said. “I will protect Matthew with my life.”
“But I don’t even know you,” Mattie said. “Who the hell are you?”
“I am the love of your life,” Phillip replied. “You simply do not know it yet.”
“Bullshit,” Gray growled. “You don’t get to waltz into this club and demand that I hand over my boyfriend.”
“Some boyfriend you are,” came Phillip’s retort. “You didn’t even tell him the truth!”
Mattie looked between the two, uncertain. Phillip did have a point. Gray should have revealed that he was a vampire much, much sooner. However, he also knew he had to put a stop to this. “I don’t want either of you to kill one another,” he said. “Why don’t we make a truce? And I know just the way to forge peace between vampire, human, and werewolf…”
He stripped off his shirt. He might have been the human, but he looked at both Gray and Phillip hungrily.
Logan
Matt has come over to my apartment every day for a week now. It was pleasantly surprising, finding out that his sex drive is almost as high as mine. He was awkward at first, the first couple of times after I told him about my trauma—like he was afraid to touch me, afraid to be rough with me. I shut that shit down. “Don’t treat me like I’m going to break. You didn’t act this way before, right?” There was a glint in his eye at that one. He took it as a challenge. Had a few bite marks after that, something makeup had to spend a few extra minutes powdering.
We order Thai takeout since I don’t know what the fuck to do in a kitchen, and we sit together on the couch after we’ve showered. We’re not snuggling, exactly, when he sits with his back leaning against my arm and shoulder, feet up on the sofa. I’ve never had friends over in this apartment, except for people like Briggs, so it’s awkward for me at first—but then one day I suddenly can’t imagine being in this apartment without Matt anymore. I can’t stop thinking about him. When I’m figuring out what I’ll eat for dinner and want to text Matt to see what he’s in the mood for. When I’m taking a shower and wonder if he’d want to try having sex in here sometime, too. Even when I’m pulling on a black t-shirt and wonder if Mattie will like it.
It’s a fucking black t-shirt, Gray. Same as all the others. I think I’m losing my mind.
We lay in bed together, Matt holding my hand and rubbing a thumb over my knuckles as he stares at me. He didn’t reject me when I told him about my past. He didn’t tell me I was disgusting, and that he doesn’t want to see me again. But the more he looks at me like that, the more my chest tightens.
He kisses the palm of my hand. “Something’s different with us, right?” he whispers.
“Yeah.” I’m having a harder time looking at him.

We’ve only got a couple more weeks of shooting when the cast is given our first public outing. It’s at Vanessa Stone’s annual Halloween party, though no one ever dresses up. It’ll be a chance to reenter the world and schmooze as we get ready for the publicity and brutal promo tours. There’ll be bullshit with social media for the others in the cast—thank God I don’t have to deal with that—and interviews and sneak peaks for the film and photoshoots and red-carpet events and talk shows and…I’m already exhausted just thinking about it.
